Alison started her career as the first ever female journalist at Flight International, covering such stories as Laker's demise and the launch of Virgin Atlantic, nee British Atlantic. Three years in she won a national award as young journalist of the year for a controversial feature on female pilots entitled 'Four Stripes and Female.'
She joined Shephard Press in 1986 as editor of a newly launched title Commuter World, dedicated to the emerging regional airline market and was fortunate enough to travel around the world to interview airline bosses - including a protracted trip to Dallas and Hawaii where she combined a Honeymoon!
In 1988 she became founding editor of Commuter/Regional Airline News International, a weekly newsletter devoted to the regional airline industry and established an office at Fairoaks Airport in Chobham, working closely with then expanding industry association, ERA.
After selling the title to PPI in 1993 Alison established Emerald Media with Kelly Murphy, editor of C/R News, CRANI's US sister title, creating the sector's first specialist aviation agency to cover both sides of the Atlantic. First clients were Crossair of Switzerland, Saab Aircraft and BAE SYSTEMS Regional Aircraft.
Having successfully launched Flybe as a new generation airline (from British European) in the early 2000s Alison took the team's expertise into business aviation in 2005.
Alison is an occasional contributor to business aviation magazines, contributing editor to BT News and a member of APRO (Airline Public Relations Organisation and BACA (Baltic Air Charter Association).
