Flying Colours Corp. the US and Canadian based MRO, completions and refurbishment business has experienced record increases year on year in terms of maintenance activity requests and output. There has been a 35% increase in the amount of Bombardier Challenger family and Learjet aircraft type maintenance requests ranging from line maintenance work through to intensive 96 month inspections which entail an exhaustive and comprehensive review of the entire aircraft. The Peterborough facility, which has traditionally been known for its CRJ ExecLiner conversions, has expanded its overall maintenance offering and has experienced a 25% increase in Bombardier Global family aircraft maintenance requests in the last twelve months. The appointment as an Authorised Service Facility for Bombardier at last year's NBAA has supported this rise in requests and much of the business has come from new customers.
Workloads have also risen thanks to an increased market demand for specific In Flight Entertainment, Cabin Management Systems, and increased demand for WiFi connectivity with Flying Colours experiencing an overall increase of 25% across both facilities. "Our business has traditionally been built on working with repeat customers. With the expertise we now offer at both our locations we are in a position to match our existing customers' expectations and develop new requests from a wider, international client base," says Gillespie. Flying Colours Corp. has also seen an increase in Pre-Purchase Evaluations that have been undertaken on behalf of customers both domestically and internationally. "For us that's a vote of confidence reflecting the value clients place in our expertise," continues Gillespie about the changing shape of the business.
Since last year's NBAA Flying Colours Corporation has achieved a number of milestones. It has been awarded the coveted AS9100 certificate for quality and safety management for the aerospace industry; has been appointed by aircraft improvement manufacturer, Raisbeck Engineering as an Authorized Sales and Installation Centre for the entire King Air product line; and in March achieved Beechcraft Authorised Service Centre status for Canada for the entire King Air, Baron and Bonanza product lines which complements its existing status as an authorised service centre for Waco-based Blackhawk Modifications Inc.
