Three year component support contract to cover Discovery Air's B737 Classic aircraft.
Airline Services Components Limited (ASC) announces that Nigerian-based Discovery Air has selected ASC to provide full component support on its fleet of Boeing B737-300 aircraft. This Power-by-the-Hour (PBH) contract will cover an initial three operational aircraft, with scope to expand as the airline looks to develop its route network domestically and regionally to destinations including Gambia, Ghana and Cameroon.
New start-up Discovery Air was incorporated in July 2008 and is set to begin operations with domestic and regional flights from its main hub in Lagos, Nigeria. Selected for the company's superior strength on the B737 platform, ASC will support Discovery with a dedicated home base stock on-site in Lagos and component pool at London Gatwick. The contract will continue for a period of three years with the option to renew at the end of the term.
Captain Abdulsalami Mohammed, Managing Director at Discovery Air commented: "We are very happy to have ASC as our support partner." ASC Director Nick Filce added 'ASC is delighted to sign this PBH support contract with Discovery Airways on their B737 Classics. This is ASC's first contract in Western Africa and a key addition to our growing portfolio. ASC has recently reinforced its focus on the region and this contract provides a great cornerstone to our planned expansion into the market. ASC's experienced and flexible approach to component support on the B737 platform ensures we are well placed to assist the regions operators to streamline operations."
ASC specialises in the supply and management of rotable components to the commercial aviation market, along with complete wheels and brakes support services. These contracts are a crucial part of ASC's strategic expansion plans following significant investment from private equity firm Lloyds Development Capital (LDC). ASC's growing international presence is underpinned by its dedication to high quality service delivery and operational flexibility valued by its customers.
