German-based general aviation operator and air ambulance specialist FAI rent-a-jet AG is pleased to announce that it has closed the books for 2014 with record revenue numbers of € 73,5m, and a profit before taxes (EBT) of € 8,1m. Revenues have been raised by 10 % (2013: € 66,1m) and EBT has increased by 30 % (2013: € 6,1m).
The current fleet, which consists of 21 aircraft including three Global Express, four Challenger 604, seven Learjet 60/60XR, four Learjet 55, a Learjet 40XR and one Learjet 35A models exceeded 12,700 hours of logged air-time. The increased utilisation was generated by a 13% rise in demand for the company's specialized air ambulance fleet, driven to some extent by the health crisis in West Africa, and a 40% rise in its service provision to the world's largest Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), which it has been working with for over 11 years.
"We are pleased to look back on another record year for FAI. The overall increase of 10% utilisation of an unchanged fleet was powered by increased availability and constant reliability, which we have achieved by replacing older aircraft with younger models," said FAI´s Chairman and Founder Siegfried Axtmann.
One of the highlights of 2014 for FAI was the opening of a new hangar at its Nuremberg headquarters. The addition of Hangar 7 expanded the company's footprint to 6,000 sqm, with an additional 3,000 sqm of office space and component shops also being added. The new hangar was built to support the growing MRO business FAI Technik which maintains its own fleet as well as external aircraft.
For 2015 FAI will continue to replace a number of aircraft with the Learjet 35A and most of its Learjet 55 models being replaced with Learjet 60 aircraft. Of the existing fleet FAI currently operates ten of its 21 aircraft within long term ACMI or management contracts, whilst two Global Express aircraft are flying in VIP-Charter, and seven aircraft (four Learjets and three Challenger 604s) are operating air ambulance services. "This year is already looking positive with the first two months' numbers already suggesting we will achieve even better figures by the end of 2015," he added.
FAI currently operates Germany´s largest fleet of Challengers and Global Express aircraft as well as Europe's largest fleet of Learjets, which contributes to making it the country's second largest general aviation operator and one of the leading operators in terms of revenue.
