German general aviation operator and air ambulance specialist FAI rent-a-jet Aktiengesellschaft (dba Flight Ambulance Intl.) has announced the induction of a fifth Challenger 604 (S/N 5348, D-AFAD) to its fleet. It will bring FAI's dedicated air ambulance fleet, which currently consists of five Learjets and four Challenger 604s, to nine aircraft. Once it has been modified for air ambulance missions it will join the fleet in December to fulfill repatriations and evacuation requests worldwide. The aircraft will be based at the company's headquarters in Nuremberg and will be maintained by FAI´s MRO subsidiary, FAI Technik.

"We took the decision to add a fifth Challenger to our air ambulance fleet as the model fulfills the unique requirements of long range patient transport," said Siegfried Axtmann, FAI´s Founder and Chairman. "With its spacious cabin, capacity for multiple missions and long range capability, it is a valuable addition to the mix and supports our growing air ambulance activity."

Following the addition of the Challenger 604, and the recent sale of two Learjet 55 types, the FAI fleet currently comprises three Global Express aircraft, five Challenger 604s, nine Learjet 60s, two Learjet 55s and one Learjet 35A which supports FAI AOG services. FAI is the second largest GA-fleet in Germany and includes eight aircraft fulfilling long-term ACMI or management contracts. The purchase demonstrates FAI's continued strategy of maintaining a dedicated Bombardier type fleet which delivers significant savings in terms of pilot training, maintenance and parts.

FAI is one of the world's leading air ambulance suppliers for the insurance and assistance sector, as well as Governmental agencies and NGO´s.  It currently averages two intercontinental medical evacuations per day for its global client base.
