Flying Colours Corp. returns to ABACE (Booth P121) in buoyant mood as it celebrates the first anniversary of opening its Singapore interiors facility housed in the Bombardier Aerospace Singapore Service Centre at Seletar Aerospace Park. Led by Paul Dunford, General Manager of Flying Colours Corp. Asia PTE, the Singapore facility has enjoyed a successful year with over 50 different aircraft passing through its doors. Projects have included a full refurbishment of both a Bombardier Global Express and Bombardier Challenger aircraft, as well as interior work on a range of non-Bombardier aircraft with more anticipated in the coming months. Demand has been particularly high for projects including woodwork refinishing and veneer repairs in addition to soft furnishing work such as seat upholstery.
Flying Colours Corp. Asia is now home to 13 dedicated team members including six local technicians with a further six anticipated to join the team this year. Since coming on board early last year and completing training at the company's Peterborough, Canada facility, local team members have enhanced their skillset and continue to play an integral part in the development of the Asian business.
Since opening in Singapore, Flying Colours Corp. has increased its capacity across all its interiors service areas, which include, preliminary inspections, repair work, modifications and refurbishments. Significantly, it has also introduced the capability to handle more mobile repair work sending onsite teams to service clients' distant location requests. The company's full service interior offering complements Bombardier's comprehensive line and heavy maintenance services at the Singapore facility.
Commenting on the anniversary, Eric Gillespie, Executive VP Flying Colours, adds: "We are very pleased to celebrate this milestone first anniversary. We have had a good year in Singapore and our workload continues to grow, as does our reputation.
Our range of services and our focus on customer service and team development has been welcomed in the region. Over the coming year, we anticipate an increase in demand for custom design work in conjunction with our larger refurbishment projects, in particular. We are tentatively eyeing expansion but we plan to increase our capacity first before we take further steps."
Flying Colours opened its facility in Singapore in April 2015 in response to the lack of regional facilities capable of refurbishing Challenger, Global or Learjet aircraft to the required standard. Operational costs to fly aircraft back to North America or Europe are prohibitively high, and aircraft down time is lengthy, so by having a local base it is aiming to fulfill a strong market demand. This has been key in the company's success.
