New quirky promotional film demonstrates London's West End can be reached from London Oxford Airport inside an hour

London Oxford Airport has enlisted the talents of canine supermodel 'Ivanka' to highlight that car journeys from London Oxford Airport to London's West End are achievable in under 60 minutes.

'Ivanka' - played by Iraida, the supermodel 'Gucci Poochie' Afghan hound - is the star of a three-minute film directed by Liz Moscrop and the GearupTV team, which also features stunt drivers, a BMW Mini, a Porsche and some unconventional use of our runway.

It is currently in final edit, readied to be premiered next month. Building on the theme, the airport is inviting jet-set pet owners and operators to send in digital photos of their pets on a plane.  It is offering a bottle of champagne for the best five in an Instagram and Twitter competition leading up to the business aviation fraternity's biggest event, NBAA-BACE in Orlando, FL. 15-18 October.

To date, London Oxford Airport has handled well over 1,000 pets, predominantly dogs, accompanying their owners on business jets and helicopters.

Movements up 16% this summer

"This fun and creative film, which happens to be based on a true story, reinforces our continued popularity as a convenient airport for London access," said the airport's Head of Business Development James Dillon-Godfray.

 "We saw a 16% increase in business aviation movements this summer, with mid-size and large cabin aircraft leading the growth.  Turboprop flights, mainly King Airs and Pilatus PC-12s, more than doubled compared with the same period in 2017."

Its main event of the year, the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone, saw a 130% increase in jet fuel sales over 2017 uplifts and proved to be busiest race weekend for five years for business aircraft movements.

Another summer highlight was the US Presidential visit to neighbouring Blenheim Palace, a mere mile from the airport and Winston Churchill's birthplace.    The extraordinary entourage that accompanied the President underlined the unique benefits of having a commercially-capable airport in such close proximity to one of Europe's finest and exclusive major event venues.   London Oxford Airport regularly assists in air transportation options for local events, supported by 22- minute helicopter shuttles from its sister operation, the London Heliport.  It also supports ad-hoc charters for commercial airliners with up to 100 seats-plus.

The airport and its IS-BAH Stage 2-accredited FBO Oxfordjet returns to Air Charter Expo (ACE 2018) on Tuesday, 11th September.  Booth No 616.
