Collins Aerospace is making the self-service bag drop process even easier

Collins Aerospace announced today the addition of its newest self-service bag drop solution that includes new security and ergonomic benefits.

The SelfDrop^TM R-series extends and enhances the company’s range of self bag drop designs. Fully modular, the R-series is a modern refit design that completely replaces existing check-in desks, optimizing it for new or refurbished terminals. With seamless integration to the airport baggage system, the R-series is fully enclosed and includes security features such as intrusion detection and a physical door to prevent unauthorized objects from being inserted into the baggage system. Passengers will enjoy more space and easy access for tagging and dispatching their bags.

The R-series runs the same highly efficient SelfDrop application available to any airline, and will also offer a full range of optional features:

The Collins Aerospace SelfPass^TM biometric-based identity management solution
Conveyability detection to prevent bags that need to be placed into a tub from being loaded
PaxPay^SM payment services
Common-use or airline-dedicated configuration

This new offering has the flexibility to be used in a one-step process — where the unit facilitates check-in, bag tag printing and baggage processing — or as part of a two-step process using a separate kiosk for bag tag printing and check-in.

The SelfDrop R-series is on display at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in London, England this week in Collins Aerospace’s booth — number 6030.
