Having completed his momentous flight into Birmingham Airport on 5th February, Walsall resident, Kevin Arblaster who has cerebral palsy, is now focused on inspiring people with disabilities to get involved in aviation.
Kevin, 54, touched down at Birmingham Airport in his four-seater, Piper PA-28 light aircraft, marking a significant final entry in his first pilot logbook. Kevin who grew up under the flight path of Birmingham Airport had always dreamt of becoming a pilot despite his cerebral palsy. With the help of disabled flying charity Aerobility and years of training, he earned his pilot's license. To celebrate the final entry in his logbook, Kevin flew to Birmingham, the place where his dreams had started.
The flight departed Tatenhill Airport, Burton on Trent in the morning and arrived under sunny skies into Birmingham. XLR Executive Jet Centre greeted Kevin with co-pilot and Aerobility flying instructor, Martin Jones, at his side.
Kevin Arblaster said: “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me on this special flight, including Aerobility, XLR for outstanding ground support, and Birmingham Air Traffic for their hospitality marking such a memorable moment. If I can inspire at least one disabled person to pursue their dream as I have done, I would be very happy.”
Kevin will now focus his efforts on supporting Aerobility, to increase its presence in the Tatenhill area and be a valuable advocate for people with disabilities in the aviation industry.
