The company expects to repeat the success of the iPhone version, which accumulated more than 600,000 downloads in just six months and together with the mobile portal, has quadrupled income through the mobile channel
The application also enables online check in, seat assignment, flight changes and offers geolocation technology
Barcelona, January 10, 2012 - Vueling, the new generation airline, has developed an application for purchasing flights for the Google Android operating system, which enables access to Vueling's Premium services in addition to the purchasing of tickets., From a simple, intuitive interface, the application offers a fast and flexible purchasing experience and management of flights, both fundamental qualities for the success of mobile applications.
With this new service, Vueling aims to increase the success achieved with the release of its first mobile application, for Apple devices, last July, which, within just six months of operation has accumulated more than 600,000 downloads; it has led the travel category in Apple's "Essential Apps" section and is part of the special collection "Rewind 2011", which collects the year's best applications for iphone.
The iphone app was widely considered as an advanced app, as it was originally the only one in the aviation sector that enabled the purchasing of tickets without leaving the application. The new Vueling Android app will offer the same facility and is available in Spanish and in English.
The Vueling mobile channel, which integrated the sale of tickets through the iPhone app and the mobile portal https:m.vueling.com, relaunched last year with full functionality has quadrupled revenues through the mobile channel during 2011, compared with the previous year. With the adaptation of the application to Google's operating system, the estimated growth for 2012 is even greater.
Tickets for Vueling's 50+ national and international destinations can now be purchased through both apps, including new destinations.
Vueling, at the forefront of new channels
The new application for Android is a step forward in Vueling's ambitious strategy to consolidate itself as a company at the forefront of technological advances in the aviation sector. The new direct channels (latest generation phones, tablets ...) have become basic tools for searching, purchasing and accessing added value services.
Being innovative in the use of these new tools, Vueling brings its Premium services to passengers, especially the ones travelling for business purposes, improving both travelling and purchasing experiences.
In addition to purchasing tickets, passengers can also check in online or use their phones as boarding passes with the QR code at selected airports; select seats, change the time or date of their flights; locate the nearest Vueling airport through geolocation; learn about the latest offers and access the customer care center. In addition, if the client is registered as a user of myvueling, a platform that enables members to enjoy the advantages offered by the company, which is accessed through Vueling.com web, the app can recover his or her data, both personal and credit card, speeding up the purchasing process and collecting the information in "my reservations".
