He joins from British Airways where he has previously Sales Director for Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar.
Vueling, the new generation Spanish airline, announces today the appointment of Jordi Porcel as its new Sales Director, effective immediately. Jordi joins from British Airways where, since June 2005, he has served as Sales Director for Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar. In the last 12 months he has looked after the markets of Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
In his new role he will lead a 25-strong team and serve on the airline's Steering Committee. He will be responsible for one of the most significant areas of turnover for the company, responsible for managing agreements with travel agencies, tour operators and charter flights. This Department generates more than 50% of the airline's total business annually.
Jordi brings extensive experience of over 23 years working in the aviation sector to Vueling. "I am delighted to be joining such a forward thinking and energetic airline," he said. It is a challenging time for the airline industry in general as managing costs is critical, but we need to strike a balance and continue to deliver a high level of customer service too. Therefore, we must be creative in implementing new practices that support both objectives."
Jordi Porcel will be responsible for the sales strategy in Spain, and also in other countries where Vueling operates; especially in strategic markets including France, Italy and the Netherlands. His Department is the cornerstone in enhancing Vueling's strategy to appeal to business travellers, who already account for about 45% of the customer base.
