JetCorp Technical Services Inc., a subsidiary of Canadian-based Flying Colours Corp., has increased the breadth of its connectivity offering following the completion of a Supplemental Type Certificate for the Aircell® Cabin Telecommunications Router (CTR) on a Learjet 60.
Installation and certification of the Aircell® CTR provides in-cabin Wi-Fi capability for Aircell®'s continental America focused Gogo Biz™ inflight internet service. The system can be used on lap tops, tablets, and even smart phones enabling passengers to surf the internet, retrieve and answer email with attachments, and access their corporate VPN. Following hard on the heels of the first installation resulting in the STC, a second Learjet 60 has had the Aircell® CTR installed and a further five Learjet 60s are in the pipeline.
JetCorp has become increasingly specialized in connectivity installation and since early 2011 the dedicated avionics installation team has completed nearly 40 Wi-Fi implementations across a range of Bombardier aircraft types including the Challenger 604, Challenger 605, Challenger 300 and Learjet 60.
"We are working hard to develop our capacity to be one of the America's leading Wi-Fi installation facilities," says Kevin Kliethermes, Director of Sales at the St Louis facility, where they have experienced a growing demand for expanded communication solutions. "The Learjet 60 is a very popular aircraft type in the North American region particularly within the corporate community where always-on connectivity is so important. The new STC goes one step further to support this market and is one of the reasons we are very pleased to now offer this option," continues Kliethermes.
JetCorp has also devised an efficient installation process which with careful planning and proper staging has dramatically decreased the average downtime required. The JetCorp installation on the Learjet 60 takes just four calendar days as opposed to the standard ten. The St Louis company is also planning to accrue more STCs for the Aircell® CTR over the next twelve months and will focus on more Learjet models amongst others.
