SkyWork Airlines, the expanding Swiss regional airline, will offer return flights to Bern from London for a family of four as part of a raffle prize for a holiday to the Bernese Oberland.
The raffle will be just one of many events and experiences taking place at The House of Switzerland the official Swiss hospitality centre at the Olympic Games at Glaziers Hall in London from 21 July to 12 August.
The house will feature cultural, gastronomic and sporting experiences for visitors to enjoy including the opportunity to participate in the 'Bernese Games' on August 4th and 5th. Guests will be invited to compete in six traditional fun Swiss sports events including 'Schwingen' (wrestling), 'Platzgen' (discus throwing), 'Käserollen' (cheese rolling), 'Kuh Melken' (cow milking) and 'Alphorn Blasen' (alphorn blowing). Prizes will be awarded after completing each event and guests may enter the raffle to win the holiday if they complete all six of the events.
SkyWork who recently announced that it will increase the frequency of its London City to Bern route to three times daily (Monday to Friday) at the start of its winter programme on the 28th of October will be on hand to make flight bookings directly from its exhibition stand at the open house and will host VIP's, travel professionals and media in a VIP lounge as part of the House's Swiss tourism theme.
Tomislav Lang, CEO SkyWork Airlines, said: "We are delighted to be involved in this exciting concept in collaboration with the Swiss regions. We want visitors to be reminded of all the wonderfully recognisable things that Switzerland has to offer as well as learn about its less well known features including the country's stunning Alpine region in the Bernese Oberland so that they will be tempted to visit us and discover for themselves."
The House of Switzerland is located at Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London SE1 9DD and will be open daily to the general public from 21 July to August 12.
SkyWork (www.flyskywork.com) was founded in 1983 and is one of the oldest airlines in Switzerland. Initially specialising in ad-hoc, business and charter flights, SkyWork's summer schedule embraces a total of 25 scheduled routes from Bern, including the UK's London City Airport. The fleet, which began with a single Cessna 340, has expanded to four Dornier 328 and three 72-seat Dash 8 Q400s. SkyWork currently has a workforce of 171 employees.
SkyWork Airlines became the first regional airline to offer its passengers Apple iPad entertainment since 2011. The tablet devices come preloaded with a selection of travel guides, video podcasts, music, video clips, flight schedules, games and magazines so passengers can enjoy a range of entertainment to suit all ages and tastes. In February this year SkyWork received the top award for its Apple iPad in the Best In-flight Amenity (short-haul category) at the 2012 TravelPlus Awards.
Your Personal Way to Fly is SkyWork Airlines' claim - a philosophy it implements in every aspect of its operations - on the ground and in the air.
