For the first time in the history of the awards, one company - Vueling, has won four of the eight Budgie awards, presented by the World Low Cost Airlines Congress, held this week in London. This year the well-respected Budgie Awards jury comprised Peter Harbison, CAPA Consulting; Sudeep Ghai, Athena; John Strickland, JLS Consulting; Chris Tarry, CTAIRA and David Huttner, Nyras Capital.Alex Cruz, Vueling CEO, received the award and dedicated it to: "The great team of professionals who work every day positioning Vueling as an international reference for quality and service for the thousands of passengers who travel with us.

This is a ringing endorsement for the Vueling business strategy - introducing attractive enhancements for the business traveller, which sets us apart from purist LCC carriers and the introduction of our successful Connections programme at our expanding Barcelona hub." Cruz also stressed that the recognition is particularly significant because it supports Vueling's efforts "to continue growing and offering more choice to our passengers in an unusually difficult situation for airlines in southern Europe."

Vueling has consolidated itself as a lead company maintaining quality and constantly introducing new complementary services to satisfy the needs of different customer profiles, always at competitive prices. This has especially been recognised by the awards for Best Business Traveller Offering and Best Customer Loyalty Scheme.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Vueling has received industry recognition for the work that is being developed from its headquarters in Barcelona. Last year Vueling was named the Most Innovative Company and in 2010 Alex Cruz was named Airline CEO of the Year.

The Budgie Awards were created in order to recognize the efforts, achievements and contributions of leaders, companies and individuals in the industry of low fares airlines, which now account for about a third of the total commercial aviation activity worldwide. Vueling competed in these nominations with renowned international companies including Norwegian (Noriega) Easyjet (UK) Spirit and Southwest (US) and Ryanair (Ireland) amongst others.
