ARINC Direct is highlighting ADConnect, its new aviation softphone application for iPhone and Android smartphone users at the world's largest business aviation show, NBAA this week at the Orange County Convention Centre, Florida (Booth No N2155.)
The app provides the business aircraft traveller with a bridge between his or her personal communication device and the advanced communication technology available on business jets today.
ADConnect customers will have the ability to make and receive voice calls using their personal smart phones onboard the aircraft, rather than requiring a dedicated aircraft handset, giving the user access to their personal contacts. The phone app uses a web-based configuration service programmed with customer's accounts based on individual aircraft tail numbers.
Each account contains a list of aircraft tail numbers within the company fleet and features all the configuration information required to authenticate with the onboard PBX/CGs, permitting access to an Iridium voice channel, Inmarsat Classic voice channel, Inmarsat SwiftBroadband voice channel, Yonder VOIP, Inmarsat streaming IP or any combination of equipment.
The app is compatible with all aircraft wireless avionics technologies connected to INMARSAT (Swift64/Swift Broadband, classic Aero), Yonder and Iridium satellite services. ARINC Direct contracted with CounterPath, experts in innovative SIP-based softphones, server applications and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions to develop the branded SIP phone client for both iPhone and Android users.
"This app allows business jet travelers who need to stay connected when they fly to easily reach both business and personal contacts anywhere in world using their personal smart phone, conveniently from the seat of their business aircraft," said Bob Richard, Senior Director, ARINC Direct. "In addition, its dynamic and automated custom provisioning allows customers to have individual call configurations per aircraft tail number within their fleet."
Additional features of ADConnect include the most desired phone capabilities-call forwarding, call swapping, merge and split calls, as well as transfer calls. If required, the app is configurable for VPN operations and has DTMF capability to support automated attendants and other applications requiring touch tone operations.
