Vueling launches its third international base in Florence.

Florence, 5 December, 2012: Vueling announced today, at a press conference in Florence, that it will open a new base with an Airbus A319, commencing March 22nd next year.

Florence becomes Vueling's 13th base and its third international hub, complementing Amsterdam (inaugurated in 2010) and Rome Fiumicino (earlier this year).

Vueling will increase its activities in Florence up to 156% compared with last summer, when the company first launched flights from the Tuscan capital.

From March 2013, new-generation airline Vueling will launch four new routes departure Florence to London (Heathrow), Copenhagen, Berlin and Hamburg, adding 160.000 extra seats this summer.

Vueling will connect Florence with a total of seven destinations in five European countries - Spain, France, the UK, Denmark and Germany - providing 315,460 seats between March and October. Five of the routes (with the exception of Heathrow and Orly) are not operated by any other scheduled carrier.

Flights to Florence from Heathrow, alongside existing services to Barcelona and Paris Orly, will be operated daily. Copenhagen and Berlin will be served four times a week, while Hamburg and existing route Madrid will operate three times weekly.

Last month Vueling announced the addition of daily flights to Palma from London Heathrow. With regular Barcelona flights commencing too, Florence becomes Vueling's third new destination and the first non-Spanish route from London's premier airport.
